At a Friday press conference at the Ponte Vedra golf course in Florida, Tiger Woods to apologise for repeated marital infidelities.

Mr Woods did not give a date for his return to professional golf.

But he said that he wood return some time this year.

When he did, his behaviour would be "more respectful to the game".

His wife Elin Woods was not present, but his mother Kultida Woods was among those in a small, hand-picked audience.

Tiger Woods loses car

Tiger Woods is handing back the SUV that brought his marital infidelities to light and ruined his golfing career.

General Motors says it has ended an agreement that allowed the fallen golf star to have free access to its vehicles.

Woods' wife famously used a golf club to smash the windows of the vehicle, which crashed into a tree outside his Florida mansion.

Woods' endorsement contract with GM's Buick brand ended in 2008, but an arrangement remained in place that allowed him to keep several GM vehicles on loan.

Tiger Woods loses another major US sponsorship

American communications giant AT&T has joined a growing list of companies to drop their sponsorship of golfer Tiger Woods because of his infidelities.

"We are ending our sponsorship agreement with Tiger Woods and wish him well in the future," AT&T said in a terse statement.

AT&T's multi-year endorsement deal with Woods included having its corporate logo appear on his golf bag. He did not appear in AT&T ads.

Woods quits golf 'indefinitely' as sponsors keep bailing

Tiger Woods says he will take an “indefinite break from professional golf” and has given no indication when he will return the circuit.

“I am deeply aware of the disappointment and hurt that my infidelity has caused to so many people, most of all my wife and children,” he says in a posting on his website. “I want to say again to everyone that I am profoundly sorry and that I ask forgiveness.

As you all know, I had a single-car accident earlier this week, and sustained some injuries. I have some cuts, bruising and right now I'm pretty sore.
