Cin Cin - over and out

The closing of Auckland’s iconic Cin Cin restaurant marks the end of an era for extravagant dining in the country’s largest city.

The waterfront eatery has closed its door and is being gutted and remodelled.

The restaurant has been sold and will reopen in March as Botswana Butchery.

Botswana Butchery is a Queenstown restaurant owned by Good Group. Owner Al Spary could not be contacted for comment.

What will happen to the Cin Cin branded Diners Club charge card?

where does the botswana buthchery source its supplies?

about time – that place was a dump.

Cin Cin was AWESOME when we held our wedding reception there. Sorry to see it go. A dump? Kai man don't be a loser.

Not surprising. The service and food standard at Cin Cin has been very average in recent times.

True. I wouldn't describe it "a dump" but very average are the right words.

Botswana Butchery cuisine is top class...at least the one in Queenstown I tried...and bushmeat, they are South Island boys..they source in Mainland New Zealand...

Very sorry to hear Cin Cin is no more. I have been there many times over the years and enjoyed every visit.

Who is going to go to a place called "Botswana Butchery"? Must be the worst name ever for a restaurant.

Will you please stop using the term "iconic"?

Seriously, what do you think you mean when you use it?

Aside from jars of Marmite in the supermarket, Sky Tower is just about the only "iconic" thing in Auckland.

And the Link bus.

Any flashy restaurants without sufficient car parking is always vulnerable to failure...

Service was bad - fit out was painfully dated - food average at best - and in that location praise allah someone else is going to have a go.

If it needs car parking, then its not flashy.

(Unless you live in Huntly, or Bulls, or somewhere like that)
